It was my first time going out of town as saling pusa with J’s family. And my first time meeting most of them. I was so nervous I didn’t even ask where we’re going. Maybe if I knew we were going to a fun, exciting, dinosaur place, I would have made Mnemo come with us. My first time in Clark was when I was still a kid, I used to go with my dad to their shipping warehouse and business office I can still remember how excited I was in every visit because I knew we were going to Dutyfree for pasalubong and some more chocolates and chips. I got to go there again in college for our business exposure trip, and few more pass-through going to other provinces and the airport. But I’ve never been to any famous tourist spots in Clark in 29 years. Who knew 2021, in the midst of a pandemic, I was able to walk in a park with dinosaurs?
Okay, fake dinosaur statues and mascots. The old me would honestly find this corny and baduy but the “mommy” in me only thought of how fun and adventurous the experience will be for my kid. We will definitely visit here with the fam next time as I am super excited to see Mnemo’s reactions watching those creepy and cheesy dinos.
We availed the Barkada and Family Package worth Php3,000* for five persons with access to three spots plus meals. If you’re interested with more promos, maybe it’s best to check the latest announcements on their website or Facebook page.
*rate is as of January 2022.
What to see/do in Dinosaurs Island Clark?
- Dinosaurs Island Clark (main attraction)
- Insectlandia
- Jurassic Jungle Safari
- 7D Super Screen Cinema
- Wonders of the World Museum
- Fossil Museum
- Picnic Grounds
If not for the line of people who wish to have photobomber-free shots, you can complete your Dinosaur Island exploration in less than an hour. At the end of the trail, there is also a performance by the dinosaurs – YES, THEY DANCE – which is to be honest the fun and funniest part. It’s baduy but it’s fun, thanks to the scared, screaming kids, I had a very good laugh.
There are food kiosks around the area, and snacks are expectedly expensive. Maybe one of the things we should work on especially when we need and want to boost our tourism.
Tips for new visitors
- Bring your own water and food. I know I mentioned there are food kiiosks , but I also know I mentioned food from inside are expensive. No corkage fee for self- brought snacks, at least as of the date of our visit.
- Get yourself an your kid/s insect repellents. Do I need to say more?
- Bring extra clothes or at least tops. Maybe especially during the summer or if you're "maarte" with dirt and all.
- If you have no plans to re-visit the place (yes, in your first visit you kinda get the feels already whether or not you are going to go there again), purchase the package with most number of spots. I think this is one of my suggestions wherever you go to maximize your experience.
- Just have fun! There are a lot of good things to enjoy in the place like taking pictures, spedning alone/quiet time, bonding with your friends, family, not just takign pictures with dinosaurs and insects. The whole place is beautiful and clean and green and fresh. And I don't mind repeating teh words green and fresh because it's really green and fresh.
- Oh, and don't forget your alcohol and sanitizer. Even without COVID, let's practice being clean, shall we?
In general, it was a fun experience, mostly because of the people I was with. It’s more fun when you’re with children who appreciate art installments, moving animal and insect statues, costumes and mascots. But kudos to the maintenance of the park, trees, and plants – at least they’re real and refreshing and cosy and green and I love even just sitting in a (padded) bench and enjoy the fresh air (and a book in my hand) (oh, and coffee).
There are a lot more photos I could have taken, but I was too busy to film some clips because #newbievlogger. Only to realize I can actually take photos WHILE filming. Meh.
