I saved a lot this ECQ as travel was banned for months. Okay, not a LOT lot, but enough to finally get to start paying for our new fam home. I was thinking of naming it, tbh. But maybe when it’s already ready for turn-over. For now, thanks that we finally have somewhere else to go to while in GCQ. And fortunately, one of those places that have opened to the public again was Tagaytay. And yes, I went there and finally visited the Bodhi Libray and Cafe.
This is not really a “hidden” gem anymore as it’s already taken a slot in the trendiest cafes near Manila in almost all pages in social media I’ve visited. It deserves to be talked about anyways because the place is really beautiful plus you know that Tagaytay vibe that you just ..uhmm.. can’t explain it but you get me, right?
Hey there! My name’s May and you can view more about me here. I travel a lot for both work and leisure. Thanks to being an auditor and a content creator and, of course, to my love for travel, I barely feel I’m actually at work when traveling. And if I’m actually off work, I usually am with friends or family, discovering places and trying out new food. I’m juggling three jobs – the two mentioned + being a single mom. You think it’s easy? Of course not! But what glues me together is my passion and love for these three. More about my story here.
I love sharing what I know and how I do things, so if you haven’t read these yet, visit the following pages to view:
I’s not that far from the entrance, but you can get lost when you’re already inside La Bella. (Or was it just us????) If you are looking for a place to stay in Tagaytay, there are units available for rent on Airbnb, and if you’re just looking for a nice place to have a quick snack or mukbang adventure, they also have restaurants that are open to public. Just like Bodhi Library and Cafe!
December 2020 update: Since the pendemic and ECQ-GCQ protocols, I'm not exactly sure how many or which units are still open for rental, but you may always check updates in the AIrbnb app. You can even get a huge discount on your first booking by joining the Airbnb family using my link here >> SIGN UP
On the first floor, is their mind and body shop which I honestly forgot to take a look at, and just above the shop is their lovely library. Most libraries do not allow their guests to bring in food, but this one’s also a cafe so it’s basically a more perfect version of my favorite place. Putting up a library and cafe is one of my dreams since I knew about coffee and it’s just so nice to get to see the same concept finally.
Inside the cafe are seats that are comfy enough for when you want to eat or read or write. You’ll also notice cute cabinets and shelves full of books organized by genre. The place has open windows and they also have a small veranda where you can also stay in if you need more outside air.
They accept cash payments only and I learned it in the most embarrassing way. I wanted to try at least one of the available items on their menu since they’re all just light snacks but I realized I have no cash with me and I forgot to withdraw before going there. The nearest ATM is like 2-3km away if I’m not mistaken. Good thing ate is kind enough not to laugh. I got at least a cup of hot choco anyway.
Well, I don’t have anything else to say anymore. It’s just the place is so good, I’m also looking forward to staying there for a day or two soon while it’s still not so crowded.
Posted here are some of shots, hope you like them! I used the Kaff preset again in Lightroom and if you find it pretty, you can get a free DNG here.
Bodhi Library and Cafe is located just inside the La Bella Residences in Neogan, Tagaytay City. They’re open to serve every Monday to Friday at 9am to 5pm and Saturday to Sunday, 9am to 6pm. Follow them on Facebook at Bodhi Mind and Body Shop (yesss they have a shop, too!).
I like staying in a room full of books I can enjoy reading, and add a cup of coffee and you'd just make my day perfect! They also have hot chocolate if you're not a coffee person! Have you been here yet? Let me know your thoughts and leave a comment below!
