Organizing my baby’s Christening was very tiring but fun. I got the church that I wanted, the food was taken care of at our venue, her dad’s there, my family was there, and my very supportive friends were there. Though some of my closest friends were not able to attend, I really am grateful to them for saying yes to being Toyang’s godparents and of course more big thanks to those who gave us their presence. It’s nice to see all the preparations over the past month resulted to a very nice and grateful day to me and the family.
It’s been weeks already since Toyang got baptized, but anyways, for those who are interested about the event’s details, here comes my post sharing the stuff I prepared for our special day.
By the way, here’s a picture of us taken by R. It’s really nice to have him there, seeing him with my baby. Having a nice, peaceful lunch with my family and friends. Little things and efforts like this makes me want to forget the past already and just live with peace and love. He has no idea, but I really am thankful to him showing up and baptized our daughter. Thanks also for the giveaways and spoiling us with sodas I had no time to prepare for.
Outfit
Mnemo’s outfit actually was my last concern. I mean, you can always go to the mall and buy one of those little white gowns and ribbons and shoes. Fortunately, when we went out for shopping, baby items were on sale. God is indeed good.
One thing to keep in mind, you need a cap, a hat, or a white cloth for the ceremony. I mean, who else except me doesn’t know this? Haha.
Venue
Manila Cathedral is actually my first choice. I loooove the place, but here’s a fun fact: I’ve never been inside of it ever. I thought “I will just go inside that lovely church when I’m getting married.” A little change of plan, but at least I made it a part of my life.
The Manila Cathedral is a little far, though. We and my friends live mostly in the South, so I considered other churches in Makati and Pasay. But again I thought, choosing a place for a special occasion is not by ah kasi malapit to or ah kasi maganda dito. I chose Manila Cathedral because I really want it to be a part of my family’s life.
I just really wanted MC that I pushed everything just to get a schedule there. By the way, they are offering communal baptism only, on the first and third Sunday of the month. We paid Php1100** for the event and certificate, which also includes a max of four pairs of major sponsors (ninong and ninang) who can actually attend the ceremony. Luckily, only two babies were getting baptised that day so we had more spaces for more ninongs and ninangs, the whole fam, and relatives.
We had our lunch at Cafe Janealo, just right across the left aide of the church. We reserved the place for Php5000**, just okay for a cozy and homey place to eat. They also have wifi and sockets for charging. The place was quite small but just enough for our little salo salo.
Food
Our food is also catered by Cafe Janealo. For a consumable amout of Php10,000**. I gave the guests the option for their lunch and the usuals were steak and pasta. I also asked to serve buffalo wings (my forever fave!) as starter, by the way. Yep, I had to mention that because ~fave~.
I also ordered some sweets to-go from Glazed by Mariella, my newest favorite source of treats. Here’s a picture of a cute mini cake I requested. Look at that little sweet little ribbon. Gigil.
Toyang’s family
We, Filipinos, are fans of celebration, parties, group lunch, and everything that involves food. I honestly was excited for food back when I was just a guest in celebrations. But what I realized is it’s not just the food and the event we celebrate for, but the people around us and the time and relationship we have with them.
I am very much open about what I am going through, and I admit, I am still hurt and maybe scarred for life, but as much as I hate seeing and being with the people who wounded me, this picture made my heart really happy even it was just for a second. I wished his family was there, too.
Well here is a picture of Toyang’s new and bigger family. Thank you soooo much for being a part of my life and Toyang’s.
