Sofitel’s Sunset Bar + our first birthday duo

cof

In the past year, since I hosted our own baby shower, I busied myself planning for Mnemo’s first birthday party. I researched about how to handle kids during a party, what food and drinks should I order, what is the best venue to do what activities, and looked for ideas on cute but useful give away for the kids. I even had a private Pinterest board on that!

Mnemo’s birthday is on April and was during the holy week this year. It is also a day before the patron festival in our province, so I guess we will mostly be celebrating her birthday in Bicol for the coming years.

Last month, I decided to have a double birthday celebration with Mnemosyne. Basically because she was just 1, and apparently anti-social. Also, our Bicol vacay cost me more than I expected, so spending more for a grand party wasn’t that practical. So I thought maybe a nice dinner with the fam would do just fine. This time, I chose the Sunset Bar in Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

Sunset Bar is the quintessential outdoor dining venue that features grilled barbecued specialties on Friday and Saturday nights. A daily a la carte offers local culinary favorites and at day’s end guests may marvel at the magnificent Manila Bay sunset whilst relaxing in a poolside haven. Local cultural shows and live musical entertainment enhance the al fresco dining experience of resident epicures as presented only by Sunset Bar.

It was not my first time dining at one of the most luxurious hotels in Manila. In fact, Spiral is still one of my favorite buffet restaurants (omg those meat and the manong taho are the best!). If you haven’t tried, treat yourself and try Spiral at least once!

Going back to Sunset Bar (ehem), well as expected, everything in their menu was great. We had few of their ala carte dishes and even the calamari, I loved! They are also offering barbeque buffet with not just different kinds of premium meat, but grilled seafood as well.
