Sunnies Café has been all over our Instagram feeds since it opened. Honestly, it made me searched and saved some hashtags following IG photos posted by different accounts. Who won’t? Sunnies Café offers a simple yet girly aesthetics that is too good for any IG photo curators.
Well, obviously, Sunnies Café is one of the IT girls’ (Georgina Wilson, Martine Cajucom, Jess Willson, and Bea Soriano) chain of the “Sunnies” brand. These group of everyone’s girl crushes are not just fond of eyewears and make-up lines, not just your typical fashionistas and supermodels, but they’re also “foodies”.
I personally wanted to try Sunnies Café ever since they launched it, but one thing held me back – every item on their menu is a little pricey and not our “usual” lunch, and as I scanned online food reviews, most people say the food’s not worth your money. Well, I’m here writing about my recent experience contradicting all their negative feedback. Anyway, it seems like the methods on how they cooked the dishes fairly justify how much they cost.
MAINS and ALL-DAY BRUNCH
Butcher’s steak – a nice and tender sous vide hanger steak specially balanced with sweet potato puree topped with mushroom gravy and onions.
Pot roast beef – USDA braised short plate and fried shallots with creamy mashed potatoes and homemade gravy.
Sunnies fried chicken – I am a lover of all chicken dishes. This boneless chicken flavored with spring onion on top of delicious mashed potato is one of the best I had.
Sunnies Risotto – grana Padano cheese risotto sprinkled with crispy bacon, onions and homemade gravy. Another must-try!
SMALL PLATES, RICE BOWLS, and PASTA
Guacamole Poke Salmon – one of my unexpected personal favorites. It’s a combination of Norwegian salmon, guacamole, and taro chips.
Umami Surf & Turf – one of their newest rice bowls, and one of their bests, too!
Truffle pasta – grana Padano cheese with mild truffle flavor and parmesan. If you are fond of truffles, this pasta is for you.
Baked rigatoni and meatballs – rigatoni, meatball, sausage and bacon tomato pesto cream. One of the dishes the whole team loved!
We finished our lunch with the best black bottom banoffee pie (oreo crusted pie, fresh banana, dulce de leche filling, and coffee whipped cream), their signature cappuccino, flat white coffee, and matcha milkshake.
Wrapping this up, food was good and there are menu items that are battling for being the best in town. Plus, the place was with perfect ambience, very cozy and homey, and indeed nice to take a little shoot for your IG “cravings”.
