Where to go next summer? Here are 12 island gems in Caramoan for your next island hopping!
I’ve been to Caramoan many times already (mainly because I’m from Bicol and one of my uncles live there) and I’ve witnessed the beauty of the islands there more than once and I know I’d love to visit them again and again. What makes Caramoan one of my best-loved Philippine provinces is that it never ceases to amaze me. The rare find of super virgin islands is what makes me fall even more in love with nature, and I’m sure you will, too. New here? Read this! Hey there! Cotivas Island, Caramoan
The past couple of years I’ve been into the waters more than I ever thought I would. I hopped among different islands in the Philippines and just recently I got to sail around Caramoan (again, this year) and as expected, the trip has been very nice and it was fun and indeed a reminder that beyond all the national issues and whatnots, Philippines is still a beautiful place and Filipinos are still beautiful people. Catanduanes is really very homey not because my parents were from there, but because it feels homey. However, as happy as I could be, I also am worried. You know what happens to an island when discovered and visited by irresponsible guests. Twin Rock Beach Resort is probably the most well-known resort in Catanduanes that if you are a tourist, it’s impossible no one would recommend it. The resort was beautiful, hence the fame. Unfortunately, we…

Binurong Point: a view from the top
One of the less-known (or less-shared) facts about myself is that I am a Bicolana. Both my mom and dad are from Bicol and all the relatives I know are speaking Bicolano. Though I was born and raised in Manila, my heart’s home is in Bicol. Every year, I and my family are to spend at least a week within April with the whole clan in Catanduanes to celebrate our Barangay’s patron, San Vicente. This year, I got a two-week vacation from work. Recovering from almost a year of PPD, I knew I really needed a long break. I traveled with the whole family, including Mnemosyne. It was here first…
