In 2018, we discovered this cafe just beside the Manila Cathedral. We got together there with my family and closest friends to celebrate over lunch Mnemo’s baptism. It’s called Cafe Janealo. And I visited there twice more after the baptism lunch, but since the pandemic lockdown, I think it’s just now that we got to eat there again.
We planned to have a picnic in Fort Santiago, but the rain came killing the joy. So we hopped restos instead. A little bit. We had our coffee at Papa Kape inside the Fort Santiago, and for dinner, we checked out the new Cafe Janealo which felt nostalgic lol kala mo katagal na masyado.
We had our usuals, like pansit for the lola, pusit for the lolo, pizza for Mnemo, and sisig for me. And I am super happy that I can still vouch for the yumminess of the food here. I haven’t tried these exact dishes before, but oooh they’re so good. Ika nga nila, “walang tapon”. And I’m not exagerating! You really have to try here if you haven’t yet. Your tummy will thank me.
Must-haves:
- Sisig – crispy, masarap sa kanin, masarap na pulutan but I’d still prefer with rice.
- Adobong pusit – which I thought the small pusits, but a little bit bigger. It’s super oily but super tasty as well. Tiis ganda. Tiis sarap.
- My mom also liked the pansit which I was not able to try, unfortunately, because while I was enjoying my sisig, my siblings are devouring the pansit already.
