Remote work at Coreon Gate, Makati
I feel very much grateful for having the opportunity to work remotely in the middle of the pandemic. While the company I am working with also struggled (and still is struggling), I appreciate their extended support to their people and patients to continue the fight against the challenge we are facing. Since our sales force are doubling up the hard work, us support teams, also feel the pressure and instead of the WFH set-up helping us to feel more homey, it also adds stress like 10x the usual. No kidding!
I am a single mom, and I am a compliance officer/auditor by profession. I do side jobs (which hardly pay, but I love doing it anyways) in the creative industry to hopefully add source of income or at least source of inspiration when I feel tired adulting. Just my corp job, I cannot do very well when I’m at home. You know the challenges moms have when they’re working from home. Thanks to my mom and my sister who take over when I really, really need to go elsewhere to focus on work.
Hey there! My name’s May and you can view more about me here. I travel a lot for both work and leisure. Thanks to being an auditor and a content creator and, of course, to my love for travel, I barely feel I’m actually at work when traveling. And if I’m actually off work, I usually am with friends or family, discovering places and trying out new food. I’m juggling three jobs – the two mentioned + being a single mom. You think it’s easy? Of course not! But what glues me together is my passion and love for these three. More about my story here.
I love sharing what I know and how I do things, so if you haven’t read these yet, visit the following pages to view:
This branch has permanently closed as of 2021.
Our office is always open for those who need to work in a (more) quiet place, but sometimes it feel so lonely (if that makes sense) there and I don’t really feel comfortable going out for lunch as we are just beside a key-city hospital. So I’ve been looking up for cafes, co-working spaces, or any safe place where I can work on my laptop. And one of the most interesting I found was Coreon Get Internet Cafe.
When I visited their Facebook profile, it seemed that many of my closest friends are already familiar with the place. It’s also easy to find, I mean thanks to Grab, perfect for people like me who need comfy place where you can be productive and enjoy great food.
I ordered a Beef Bugogi on rice, and (two orders of) Kimchi and Tofu Soup. I honestly haven’t tried kimchi soup before this because I thought it would be weird, but I’m seeing a lot of it in kdramas so I dared and tried. And OMAYGAD it’s sooo good I wanted a third cup. The beef bulgogi was very good, too. Very tasty, and that flavor you’re looking for is really on the spot. It’s served with a cup of iced tea, so solved an, bes!
I also got a serving of French Fries with Sesame Seeds with mayo dip. It’s okay, but I guess I’m just gonna order the classic salted one next time, and I wish they could offer sour cream or garlic mayo or aioli in the future. I mean those are the perfect dip for any potato fries! Well, at least for me.
That and definitely the kimchi soup are the main reason I am super excited to visit the space again. It’s a perfect place to work, I mean I went there hoping to be more productive “at work” but instead I became productive “eating very very good food”. Every transaction also include two hours of free wifi access so it’s waaaay better than working in a cafe where you have to use your mobile data for a hotspot.
Coreon Gate Internet Cafe is located at 47 Polaris Street, Makati City. Wifi’s quite good, they also have comfy space, and the interior is also super nice. I loved that the cafe noise is not so loud that you won’t be able to focus on whatever you’re doing. Coreon Gate also has a variety of food and interesting drinks which I am so much excited to try next time. We should be thankful if we're able to work from anywhere during this pandemic. Just be careful where to go, what to touch, who to talk to and as much as possible get your own space for work. I am trying to build a series of blogs or vlogs to share the safest and most enjoyable spaces in case you need to get away from the office or home. I get you, buddy. I feel the stress so we need to make a move on it else we won't be able to work at all. STILL, LET'S FOLLOW THE HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS, people!
