Coffee and chill at Papa Kape, Fort Santiago, Manila

The City of Manila is one of our go-to places and if my family and I feel like picnic-ing, we go to the famous Intramuros. It was a very sunny day in Pasay and we thought let’s go have a picnic and enjoy the sunny/windy feels in Manila. Twelve kilometers after, the rain came and we never had the chance to sit on the grass and enjoy a cup of coffee or whatever. Good thing is, as we walked along Fort Santiago we saw this new coffee shop which apparently just opened first quarter of this year. The ground was still wet, but at least we found a home at Papa Kafe just inside the Fort Santiago.

Papa Kape is a cozy cafe located inside the historic Fort Santiago in Manila. They boast an ambiance that suits its location, with wooden interiors and antique decor. It was just a small cafe, but there are more seats outside which make it more cozy. Except that the wind was a little bit snob already the day we visited (kj!). We stayed there and got ourselves some coffee which reminds me how thankful I should be that I was born to a family who looooves coffee. Inside though was airconditioned (thank God), and has this very old Manila feels with modern coffee shop feels if you get what I mean. If you don’t then there’s a picture. Duh. Small menu, though. They have the usual coffee mixes, and some pastries.

I personally recommend their Caramel Latte (my bias from all the coffee shop, I guess), and my parents loved their hot latte which was deliciously creamy. One interesting drink? There’s the Black Gulaman Americano which I will definitely try if I was in the mood to get something unfamiliar. This rain 110% ruined our picnic day. Papa Kape gave me back my peace though with their Caramel Latte.

Papa Kape provides a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and have given me a nice spot for a quick catch up with the vlog *ehem maybe you can also check out my channel and subscribe ehem*.
