Getting ready for the 81st: Noch ein Bier, bitte! (Another beer, please!)
Partnered with Solaire Resort and Casino, German Club Manila hosted another epic Oktoberfest on it’s 80th year celebrating German culture last year, featuring an endless stretch of the great food, entertainment, and their most-loved beers.
Now you’re asking, was there anything more than drinking? Or course, there was a loooot of eating as well. To name a few Oktoberfest delights, there were Bavarian favorites such as oven-fresh Laugen Pretzel, Weisswurst and other German sausage specialties, German potato salad, Spaetzle and Classic apple & walnut strudel and a lot more. Non-meat and other vegetarian food are also available upon request. We were also served free-flowing Weihenstephaner beer which is fresh from the oldest brewery in the world, brewing beer under the Bavarian purity law of 1516.
The entertainment band Bavarian Sound Express gave more life to the night. The 12-member band from the beautiful land of Munich kept us singing and dancing all night with their traditional Bavarian music. Also performed, is one of our most renowned Filipino singers, Martin Nievera. The celebration as indeed star-studded, as we also got to meet Yssa Pressman, Dingdong Dantes, Mike Bustos, James Younghusband, and few more celebrities.
A 2,400sqm meter tent at Solaire was the home of the 80th German Oktoberfest for three amazing nights. Adding to the fun and excitement, are some booths around the area where we played and won. One of the things I honestly was waiting for was the souvenir mug!
The Oktoberfest is indeed one of the most important events of the year, and their 80th year is probably the merriest Oktoberfest so far! I wish it’s October again! Lass uns das bald mal wiederholen! (Let’s do this again soon!)
